Dubai Diary #5 The tallest building in the world

Dubai at night , Burj Khalifa

EN: To be in Dubai and not visit the tallest building in the world Burj Khalifa (829.8m) would be a sin, right? Not to mention the world's largest (of course) shopping centre nearby, Dubai Mall (1200 retail outlets!), plus one of my absolute favourite spots in Dubai, The Souk Al Bahar (will write about it later this week). We took a metro to get there and regretted doing so, because it was quite a hustle to find the entry to Burj Khalifa, I would definitely take a taxi next time. My advice is, book your tickets in advance! and you'll save a lot of money (online price 125AED, on the spot 400AED). It was amazing to watch the sunset and the Dubai dancing fountain below us (although I prefer the view from the bottom as you can also hear the music). The high-speed elevator (traveling at 10 metres per second!) took us to the outdoor observation deck (highest in the world), named At the Top on the 124th floor, where you can use the telescopes and see the landscape in real-time but also images from different times of the day, the past and the future! The view is amazing and you can stay up there as long as you like. Definitely worth a visit in the late afternoon when the heat is quite bearable and than go for a delicious meal and something to drink in one of the many restaurants in Souk Al Bahar. xx
