Our Honeymoon
Finally I get to tell you a bit more about our honeymoon in Seychelles. I usually describe things I love and enjoy as amazing and fabulous and I want to use these words over and over again when thinking about our one week in paradise. But it was so much more than that. It was magical because it was our honeymoon.... we were married and the sensation of this new status was all over us. Drunk in love is the perfect way to say how we felt and still feel and the fact that we experienced these moments in the middle of an Indian Ocean was pretty unbelievable.
Four days after our wedding we boarded a direct flight to Mahé, the largest island of Seychelles (there are 115 islands in total). Ten hours later we checked into our junior suit in Hotel Constance Ephélia and the one thing we didn't expect was... the rain.
September is not the best month to travel if you're planning your holiday outside of Europe and I was quite worried about this little detail. I'm sure everyone can understand that no matter what sort of a holiday, sun is a big part of the whole deal.
To make the story short, after looking at the weather forecast, we accepted the reality (rather than being grumpy and have feelings of unfairness) and had the most amazing time! We basically spend our days snorkelling because you don't realise it's raining when you're in the water. Straight from the ocean we went to the largest spa in the Indian Ocean, U spa. We went every day, we love the spa! One hour long massage, Shiseido treatments, sauna, hammam, jacuzzi, with a glass of homemade ginger ice tea.... wrapped up in towels while listening to birds singing .... who cares about the sun, right?! ;)
I'm not going to lie to you or to myself; Yes, we were a bit disappointed about the weather, but we had the most amazing four days on the island of Mahé. The service was beyond fantastic, the whole resort felt so intimate and personal. Delicious food (I finally had some proper indian!) and the friendliest people I've met on my travels. We felt so spoiled by the hotel team which only made me wish that every holiday was a honeymoon. We got champagne and baskets of fruits to our room, one night after dinner, we came back to a hot bath with petals of roses.. so romantic!
After four days we boarded a tiny little plain and flew to another island (20 min flight) called Praslin. Let's just say, if we thought that the Constance Ephélia was amazing, wait until I show you what Constance Lemuria looked like (and the sun came out at last!). xx
