Restaurant Le Meurice Alain Ducasse

Lunch at the newly re-opened restaurant Le Meurice Alain Ducasse was a real treat!

I'm not sure how to explain this, but only after moving to France did I really understood what enjoying the food means. Who has the time for a four hour long meal?! Why would you even want to eat for so long?! That's how I felt before or maybe I should say I never even thought about doing such thing before and yet, today, I love this way of dining. Of course not every day or week, but few times a year I really love "doing it" the French way.

Starting with little dishes that are not on the menu, be surprised by small goodies between the meals, have the smelliest cheese trolley in front of you so you can choose a few to try (really small tiny pieces of cheese not huge chunks), long pauses between the dishes for talking, sipping wine and more talking, two or three desserts and a small box of chocolates (or something sweet) to leave the restaurant with.

I blame my husband for this, he's very passionate about gastronomy (extremely proud of all things French), loves wine (and knows it quite well) and I truly love sharing these rare moments with him as we both believe in the saying, Collect moments rather than things. xx

  1. Aside from my love of trying new food at new restaurants, I love using the occasion to catch up with a friend or two. So my meals are always at least 2 hours long haha. Not all of which is spent eating ;)
