Best of 2016

What a ride 2016 was!! I've had some amazing travel opportunities, met many new people and worked my ass off.

365 days in such pace was pretty exhausting and I had to slow down at times although when you're running your own business it's very hard to do so. Overall, it was a good sunny year with a few dark clouds and some challenging heavy storms, but I can definitely say that 2016 helped me to understand who I am and the way I want to go.

I woke up in Brussels on the first day of January 2016 because my husband was staying for a few months in Belgium. After the laziest first week of the year (what a fab start, right? haha) I came back to Paris to pack my suitcase for Florence. For the second time I was photographing for Luisa Via Roma and had the chance to work with Sarah from Collage vintage and the beautiful Danish model Quirine, creating exclusive fashion images for the press all over the world. My first photo that appeared in Vogue Germany was also photographed while working for Luisa Via Roma in 2015 of Jacey Duprie.

Haute Couture in January is something I'm always looking forward to (wishing for good weather every single time). Although it was quite chilly, when you're rushing from one shoot to another you don't really have the time to feel the cold. On the other hand, Lana was freezing permanently considering the clothes she was wearing, but always very ladylike - with a big smile on her lips and that's why I love working with her!

Best of 2016 February was all about sunny Mauritius where I flew for a few days to discover the newly re-opened hotel The Ravenala Attitude. With a little stop-over at La Reunion, I got a feeling that I'd absolutely love to discover this tropical island a bit more.

I got back to Paris to finally find my husband in the city of lights for good, no more long distance marriage! (although it was only for a few months haha). I couldn't think of a better place on this earth to celebrate Valentine's day than the beautiful Hotel Le Meurice overlooking the stunning Jardin des Tuileries and the majestic Eiffel tower. Rose petals on the bed, chilled champagne and the sparkling Eiffel Tower exceeded all of my expectations!

Ready-to-wear craziness started in March and lasted 10 days. I was working non-stop and during this time of the year we have quite a few rules implied in our household. My husband knows that during these days I'm nearly never at home, there won't be any meals cooked or dishes washed, shoes and bags will be lying all over the place and I won't be answering any questions like Where is ... Thankfully fashion week only happens four times a year! haha

This was also the month when I got to photograph Carin from Paris in four months for Cartier. Two editorial stories to be precise featuring the gorgeous Cartier amulette in gold and white.

I'm an April's child and celebrated my 33rd birthday with a few friends in the loveliest bar inside the Grand Hotel du Palais Royal where I also spend the night with hubby. One of the best culinary experiences was also my b'day dinner at the Three Michelin star restaurant Le Cinq inside the Hotel George V, Four Seasons. The whole experience was absolutely incredible, from the moment we stepped inside the gorgeous dining room until we left (few minutes after midnight as the last guests). I'll never forget this evening.
Summer ready

In April I photographed for Taittinger USA and the theme was, summer picnic in Paris with a glass of champagne. How fitting (for me)! I had such fun creating the images and consuming all the props at the end of the shoot haha.

Best of 2016 Best of 2016 Best of 2016 Best of 2016 Just as I submitted the photos to my client I flew to Greece, for the very first time! It was the perfect timing as the weather in Paris was awful (it took me weeks to chase the sun for the Taittinger photo shoot!). Couple of days in Greece with fabulous girls was the perfect getaway, but wait.. there were few more trips waiting for me!

And then Dubai happened, I love this place so much! This time it was girls only. With my three girlfriends from University, we had the best week ever enjoying the heat, great restaurants and rooftop bars with breathtaking views. We even managed a trip to Abu Dhabi (finally!) and visited the stunning Sheikh Zayed Mosque. I have so many photos to share with you so please stay tuned for more from this trip.

On the 6th of May I boarded the plane in Dubai direction Vienna, just in time for my mom's birthday. I surprised her with a weekend in the Austrian capital and it was one of the most beautiful weekend's in 2016. I have a very close relationship with my mom (although it wasn't always the case especially during my teenage years). From Vienna we drove to Czech Repulic to visit my godmother (my mom's sister) and spent a few days with my Czech family (my mom is Czech). And finally Slovakia for a week with my sister her daughter and my two brothers. These are the most precious moments for me, when I have my family around.

At the end of May I spend a few days in my favourite part of France, La Provence. Domaine de Manville completely took my breath away and I'm already planning a trip back to the land of olive trees, hopefully with my mom as she's never been to Provence before.

In June I flew to Lisbon to celebrate a hen do of my very good friend from University with her eleven girlfriends! After four days of pure partying, my hubby arrived and we finally got some time together this year! He's been extremely busy with his work and couldn't take any days off. We both fell in love with this city and would definitely love to go back one day!

I escaped to Biarritz with Fiat for a couple of days and at the end of the month I made it to Morocco for the very first time in my life. Marrakesh was unforgettable and so was the Hotel Mandarine Oriental and the Villa I had the chance to stay at (I still talk about this place to all my friends and would really love to go back this year).

July was one of my busiest months in 2016. Never ending work load made me wish for more than 24 hours in a day. Haute Couture was on and I had the chance to work for the very first time with Chriselle from The chriselle factor. I've been following her for years and it was a huge honour and pleasure to be photographing her and all the runaway shows she attended for her website. I was also happy to be working with Lana again and I also started to work for Mojeh, the editor-in-chief of a fashion magazine called MOJEH based in Dubai.

Little did I know that my first trip to Morocco this year won't be the last one. I was lucky to have had the chance to fly to Marakesh once again, but this time to photograph Carin from Paris in four months for once again, Cartier. An unforgettable experience including private jet and all that jazz! If someone knows how to throw an event, it must be Cartier! I was photographing Carin wearing the new Cactus de Cartier jewellery collection in the middle of Moroccan desert and had to seriously pinch myself if that all wasn't just a dream!

I also photographed Delphine Delafon's new handbag collection. It was a great experience for me as Delphine's style is much darker and quite underground. This job definitely pushed my vision into a slightly different way, at least for a little while. I'll make an extra blogpost about this shoot as I think it's quite an interesting one.

At the end of July I was happy to welcome my nephew and his girlfriend in Paris and because our tiny apartment just wasn't enough for the four of us, I used this as the best opportunity to go for a little staycation in Paris. The cutest boutique hotel Le Saint in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés was a pure staycay-perfection!

August was all about friends, as you might know, it is the quietest month in Paris. I spend a few days in Arcachon with my friend Marion. We went cycling in Cap Ferret, ate tons of sea food and swam in the ice cold Atlantic ocean. It was also my friend Pauline and Nicolas's wedding and we spend a beautiful weekend in Toulouse celebrating their love. We couldn't help but think of our wedding nearly One year ago. The time flies!

We had a very special day prepared for our One year wedding anniversary. Night at my favourite hotel in Paris, Plaza Athénée. I couldn't imagine a better place to celebrate with our closest family and friends than on the iconic balcony overlooking the sparkling Eiffel Tower! A dream come true! The next day we had lunch at the newly re-opened 2 Michelin star Restaurant Le Meurice Alain Ducasse and I don't think I need to tell you that I'll never forget these two days.

For the first time in my career I was photographing bikini! Once again with Carin from Paris in four months, we flew to the South of France and stayed at the gorgeous Grand Hotel du Cap-Ferrat. It was a fabulous couple of days and we ended up shooting more than we even needed just because we are both passionate about our jobs and love what we do.

Straight after started my officially busiest fashion week. I went to zero parties as I had so many clients that instead of dancing the night away I was editing till early morning hours. I was photographing for more international bloggers, magazines and designers. It was taught at times but I loved every minute of it!

As soon as the fashion week was over I flew to the South of France with Lana to discover the world of the new Louis Vuitton perfumes. We stayed at one of the most beautiful hotels in France, Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc. I was happy that we got to spend some time together with Lana outside of the Fashion Week craziness.

Later in October I went to Switzerland for a few days to discover the beautiful area of Jura & Three lakes. The country reminded me so much of my beloved Slovakia and made me even more excited for Christmas as we decided to spend our holidays with my family this year.

In November I photographed for Georges Hobeika once again but this time it was the beautiful Belgian Countess Angelique de Limburg-Stirum who was attending the Le Bal des Debutantes.

November is also my husband's birthday and I made him a little surprise. I picked him up earlier from work (packed all his clothes in advance) and with a big smile on my face took him to the nicest little boutique hotel in the 16th arrondissement, Le Metropolitan, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel. Swimming pool and sauna is the way to my hubby's heart together with wonderful dinner at the hotel's restaurant and chilled champagne in the room, we spend a beautiful b'day night together. Did I mention that our suite had the most incredible view of the Eiffel Tower??!!!

And I finally made it to London!! As happy as a little girl, I couldn't wait to see my best friend Zuzana and her second baby girl I've been only face timing with since she was born! I love returning to London, after all, 10 year in the city is hard to forget!

My last work trip in 2016 was to Munich where I was photographing a story for a french magazine MPA. I spend four days discovering Munich with the loveliest journalist Fabien and I'm pretty sure we ate our way through the city. I can't wait to see the magazine in print and I will make sure to share a few photos with you here on the blog.

Slovakia at last for Christmas after three years was good enough reason for me to completely switch off, no computer or phone, zero social medias. Only my family and husband. It was the best end of 2016!

Pheeewwww what a ride! Especially when looking at all the travels and jobs I managed to accomplish in 2016! I'm excited to see what 2017 has prepared for me and I'll make sure to share a few moments with you on the blog. Thank you for following along!
