Martinhal Chiado Lisbon, Portugal

by - 23:32

Our second time in Portugal only this time with Livia, was another beautiful family holiday we spent together. I was so happy my Mom could join us and we took her to some of our favourite places around town. We decided to go for a family friendly hotel Martinhal Chiado and it turned out to be the best choice ever! The weather was not as one would expect for June and we had a lot of rain. I think we have understood for the first time how fantastic and smart it is to stay at these type of places, everything is made for the satisfaction of the child and Livia had the best time playing inside the kids club. Our room was bigger and better equipped as our own place in Paris *which made me dream of a bigger place), from a dishwasher to washing machine, super safe and kids-proof apartement was truly everything we could wish for!

As soon as the sun decided to come out, we went to explore Lisbon. I love this city, the food scene got so much better since the last time we visited (you can read about it here) and it was quite easy to get around with a stroller as there are many lifts taking you up and down the hills. We took our Stokke for this trip because it’s sturdy and I feel the safest having Livia inside for any sort of travels like this. We also found a few new places to eat, especially in the Chiado area which seems to be the most popular and buzzing with great cafes and restaurants. The Martinhal is in the heart of Chiado and that is another reason why I would recommend this hotel.

Comoba Lisboa - delicious cafe and small dishes / gluten free options
Time Out Market - incredible place with 24 restaurants under one roof / great atmosphere and kids friendly
Vicente by Carnalentejana - delicious food where you can sit outside on the terrace, excellent wine! No highchair but we always travel with our own portable chair cover so Livia enjoyed an outside dinner with us as the restaurant is just around the corner from the hotel.

The beach is only a 30 min train ride and our favourite one is certainly Carcavelos beach. Cascais is a lovely city to visit but I would not stay there for the beach fun as it’s too small and crowded. However, you should not miss lunch or dinner at 21 wine is food restaurant in Cascais, a true gem!

Have a great week everyone!

Thank you Martinhal Chiado for making our stay unforgettable! xxx
