Slovakia

I knew what the destination of Livia's first flight will be even before she was born, an easy choice to make, of course Slovakia. What I wasn't sure about was when this flight would and should take place. We've had one of the ugliest winters here in Paris, snow storms and days even weeks of heavy rain, closed airports (AirFrance strikes) etc. The best was to stay indoors and if I didn't have a newborn at home I would probably go crazy but as we were going through the stage of "getting to know each other", we didn't mind at all. Four months later we booked our first family flight and flew to Slovakia. I wrote a little article about how to survive a flight with a newborn, click here to read it.

It was wonderful to be "home". And the weather! It felt like summer! We took it easy and stayed mostly with my mom, I could finally introduce Livia to her new friends (all my girlfriends have already two or more children) and we couldn't skip the stunning Hight Tatras and our favourite Kempinski Hotel where we stayed for a couple of nights (their Zion SPA is not to be missed!). Those few days in the mountains were our first family holiday - only the three of us - what a change of life and what a feeling!

This is just a little photo diary of those few days in Slovakia, since then we already returned back this summer and repeated the scenario nearly to the point. Went back to High Tatras but added a few other favourite places as the weather was once again incredible (around 30 degrees celsius every single day!). If you're a nature lover and the word hiking doesn't make you shiver, you'll love Slovakia for sure and I hope some of you will also visit one day. xxx
